Utah Bladderfern Habitat

A few nice Utah images I found:

Habitat of Cystopteris utahensis Windham & Haufler. A Utah rare species, and also at least moderately globally rare, at a location disjunct by at least 175+ miles. This species will be included in the not yet published update to Flora of the Central Wasatch Front due to the somewhat expanded geographical coverage of that update (not because it has been found in Salt Lake County, although this location is in northern Utah County). Like C. fragilis, grows in rock crevices and outcrops, often in sheer cliffs, in places that are both very dry (as above) as well as moist.

July 25, 2009, American Fork Canyon, Utah County, Utah, approx. 5,850 ft. elev.

The Eagle "Gateway" was originally built in 1859 and marked the entrance to Brigham Young's estate (the Beehive House is at the far left, and was his home from 1854 until his death in 1877). The eagle was originally made of wood.
